Small Group Tutoring and Pod Learning

Pod tutoring works best when students share similar learning needs and goals. Pod learning creates collaboration,  companionship, and FUN. We offer small group tutoring for groups as small as 2 to 3 students or as large as 4 to 6, whatever fits your pod best.

Smaller pods give every student more individual attention and faster pacing. Larger pods offer more peer collaboration and a richer group dynamic. Our team will help you decide what size makes sense based on the students involved, the subjects you're focused on, and your goals for the sessions.

Firefly Tutors supports small-group sessions for every grade level and academic stage. Our tutors specialize in core subjects and advanced coursework, and we'll match your pod with a tutor who aligns with the subject focus and age range.

• Elementary (TK-5) - phonics, reading, math facts, writing, science, and study habits that build a strong academic foundation
• Middle school - pre-algebra, algebra, science, English Language Arts, and stronger study skills
• High school - advanced math, chemistry, physics, foreign languages, writing, and homework support across every grade

Many of our pods come together because parents from different families want to share the experience and the cost. Pod learning groups are often created by parents looking to combine learning across friends, neighbors, or homeschool co-ops.

If you have a small group of families who want to set up regular tutoring sessions together, we'll help you organize the logistics and match your pod with the right tutor. Sessions can take place in one family's home or rotate across homes whatever works best for the group.

Pod tutoring isn't only for families teaming up. Many of our pods are cousins learning together at home. If you have multiple children who could benefit from regular tutoring sessions, small group tutoring is often a smart, efficient way to meet everyone's needs at once.

Sessions can be structured around shared subjects when grade levels are similar, or split among students when needs differ. Our team will help you design a session plan that gives every child the focused attention they need.

Every Firefly tutor is a college graduate with at least 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience. We vet our tutors using Department of Justice (DOJ) standards, which takes the burden off you so you can focus on being the parent while we focus on educating your students.

Our qualified tutors are caring, academic college graduates skilled at developing outstanding students. They know how to balance the needs of a small group while keeping every student engaged because the right small-group tutor is part instructor, part facilitator, and part coach.

Your first pod session is about building rhythm. Your tutor will get to know each student in the group; their strengths, the subjects they find challenging, the way they prefer to learn, and start tailoring instruction from the first hour. Many families notice strong engagement after just one or two sessions together.

From there, every session is structured around the pod's pace and goals. Sessions are scheduled to fit every family's calendar, and you'll receive progress updates after each one- so you always know how your student is doing and what we're working on next.
