Families in Texas now have access to a new education funding opportunity through the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program — giving parents more choice and flexibility in how they support their child’s learning, including the use of funds for personalized tutoring. What Is TEFA?
TEFA gives eligible Texas families state education funds they can use toward approved educational resources, including personalized tutoring.

- Opens: February 4, 2026
- Closes: March 31, 2026 (11:59 p.m. CT)
TEFA is not first-come, first-served — accuracy matters more than speed.
- Planning Approved Services
If approved, families can start planning how to use their TEFA funds for tutoring and other eligible services beginning July 1, 2026.
