We're delighted to celebrate Kiana as our Tutor of the Month for October 2026! Based in Roseville, Kiana brings curiosity, creativity, and a real sense of connection to every session, helping students feel seen, supported, and ready to grow.

Kiana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, is working toward a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and has been with Firefly Tutors for two and a half years, following three years of ABA (applied behavior analysis) tutoring and support. Kiana tutors math from elementary through Pre-Calculus, reading and writing, biology and chemistry, and social-emotional learning support.

At its heart, tutoring is about the people. "I love the students themselves, how they light up and connect with me," Kiana shares. That connection builds the trust students need to take on new challenges with confidence.

One of Kiana's proudest moments is seeing a student finally understand something they've been working on for a long time. Kiana also has a favorite habit: when one student comes up with a catchy phrase for a method or technique, it gets passed along to other students. It's a lovely way of letting students learn from each other, even if they've never met.

Outside of tutoring, Kiana is always learning something new, with eight languages in progress on Duolingo. Count this tutor as a proud C.S. Lewis nerd, a board game nerd, and a devoted fan of both Doctor Who and Sherlock. Kiana also volunteers with a young adults' ministry at church and absolutely loves that community.

Kiana's creativity, patience, and care for every student are a wonderful addition to the Firefly Tutors team. Thank you, Kiana, for the lightbulb moments, the clever strategies, and the connection you bring to every session.
