We’re thrilled to celebrate Miss Noelle Dickenson as Firefly Tutors' February Tutor of the Month! With an impressive 27 years of experience in public education, Noelle brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to every tutoring session. Based in Seal Beach, CA, Noelle has taught a wide range of subjects to students from 1st to 6th grade and is known for her ability to connect with each student individually, helping them unlock their full potential.

Education and Experience
Noelle's academic background is extensive. She earned an A.A. in Liberal Studies from Fullerton College, a B.A. in American Studies with a Minor in Health Sciences from California State University Fullerton, and a graduate degree in Education with an emphasis on Cultural and Language Acquisition and Development from Chapman University. Noelle is also proud to hold a valid Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential with the California Department of Education, qualifying her to teach all grades and subjects from K-8.

Throughout her career, Noelle has taught a diverse set of subjects, including Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health Science, ESL, and more. She has worked with GATE students as well as learners with special needs, and she brings her deep knowledge to every tutoring session.

What She Loves Most About Tutoring
Noelle’s passion for teaching is evident in her approach. She loves connecting with students and challenging them to reach their fullest potential. One of her favorite parts of tutoring is identifying the learning gaps and designing a plan to address them. For Noelle, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching a student’s eyes light up when they finally grasp a new concept.

She also takes pride in building students' confidence and helping them understand that there are many types of intelligence. Her mantra is clear: “MISTAKES ARE PROOF THAT YOU ARE TRYING!” Noelle believes mistakes are a natural part of the learning process and encourages her students to take risks, embrace their errors, and learn from them.

Proudest Moments and Favorite Tips
Throughout her teaching career, Noelle has had countless proud moments, but what stands out the most is the realization her students have that they are “IMPORTANT, WORTHY, and LOVEABLE,” regardless of test scores or mistakes. She’s proud to stay in touch with many former students, now adults, who still seek her guidance and support.

Noelle also loves offering parents strategies for supporting their children in the best way possible. She truly goes above and beyond to ensure both students and parents feel supported in their educational journey.

Fun Facts About Noelle

• Noelle enjoys walking along the sand at low tide, collecting shells, and riding her bike by the beach.
• Her goddaughter, who recently got married, was one of her former 4th-grade students 21 years ago!
• Noelle has a son who, beyond his academic and personal achievements, she is most proud of for being a genuinely remarkable and wise person.
