Meet Our Founder
Diane Cutler Lewis is an educator, entrepreneur, and philanthropist committed to helping students reach their highest potential. She began tutoring a friend's daughter and within one year, had 21 students from referrals. The best part was that she loved her students as they poured laughter and joy into her heart. Tutoring quickly became Diane's passion and life purpose.
She founded A+ In Home Tutors in 2003 to promote educational awareness and customized learning for students of all backgrounds and grade levels. The organization has grown to be one of the leading tutoring vendors to many Charter Schools and community partners throughout California. In 2021, Diane launched Firefly Tutors, presented by A+ In Home Tutors, to continue to expand tutoring services with the goal of more positively impacting greater numbers of students in all 50 United States.
Diane earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Northridge, majoring in Liberal Studies and Education with a California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential in K-8th grade learning.
Diane's career in education was inspired by her father, Morris Cutler. In 2019, she published Education Warrior, an inspirational memoir of her father that highlights his global impact on education in Afghanistan, Kenya, and California. Also, as a tribute to her father, she founded Education Warrior, a not-for-profit created to provide much-needed tutoring for vulnerable at-risk children of families with high hopes but little money who are the most likely to drop out of school.
In addition to her passion for making education accessible to all, Diane embraces travel, people from diverse cultures, delicious foods, art, music, theatre and enjoys an active, healthy lifestyle in Anaheim, California.

Tutor Of The Month
We’re thrilled to kick off the new year by celebrating Cheree Scott as our Tutor of the Month for January 2026! Based in Anaheim Hills, Cheree brings a thoughtful blend of structure, creativity, and compassion to every session, making her a trusted and inspiring presence for students of all ages.
Cheree holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theater and Associate’s degrees in French, Liberal Arts, and Human Services. As she approaches her 3-year anniversary with Firefly Tutors, she continues to make a lasting impact in subjects including Reading, English Language Arts, Compositional Writing, Math, and French. Her passion for literacy and language shines through every lesson.
What Cheree loves most about tutoring is seeing her students develop their strengths. “To observe my students recognize their own capabilities, gain confidence, and achieve levels they once believed beyond reach is a profound privilege,” she shares. From helping a ninth-grade student improve her science grade just before graduation to guiding a young child as he learned to read and express himself, Cheree tailors her sessions to each learner's exact starting point.
Her top tips for students include: speak your thoughts aloud, ask questions, take your time, focus on one task at a time, and be proud of your effort because consistent effort leads to real progress.
Outside of tutoring, Cheree enjoys swimming, dining at her favorite spot, Roma D’Italia, and speaking French, her favorite language.
Cheree’s dedication to individualized learning and her unwavering belief in her students make her an invaluable part of the Firefly Tutors team. We’re proud to start 2026 by recognizing her exceptional work and the difference she makes every day.
Thank you, Cheree, for your passion, patience, and the light you bring to every student’s journey.
