We’re honored to recognize Elizabeth Winkler as our Tutor of the Month for February 2026. Based in Brea, California, Elizabeth brings creativity, depth, and global experience to every session, helping students build confidence in math, English, and German.

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Multiple Subjects and earned teaching certifications as a classroom teacher, an English teacher, and a German as a foreign language teacher from the Freie Hochschule Stuttgart Seminar für Waldorfpädagogik in Germany. With 17 years of teaching experience and individual tutoring with Firefly Tutors, she blends structure and imagination to make learning engaging and approachable.

What Elizabeth loves most about tutoring is witnessing those breakthrough moments. “I love it whenever I see a student's eyes light up when they have grasped something new or mastered something they've been working on,” she shares. Whether supporting math skills or strengthening language development, she approaches each lesson with patience and purpose.

One of her proudest moments was arranging for a German student to interview a native speaker over Zoom directly from Germany, turning classroom learning into a real-world experience. She also helps students approach challenges creatively, for example, turning the word “bed” into a drawing to help learners remember the difference between “b” and “d.”

Beyond tutoring, Elizabeth is an award-winning stage actress and director in Germany and serves as a Production Assistant for Christmas carolers at major Southern California venues.
